Valentine Washcloth Instructions

Hi Knitters,

It's taken me too long to get back to blogging.  It's not for lack of knitting that I have neglected my online journal.  I have several projects to share so I will be catching up in the weeks to come.

First I'll share what I am working on today.

I am preparing to teach a beginning crochet class at Gourmet Yarn Co this Saturday.  The class is based on my basic washcloth pattern.  Since we're only a few days away from February I thought the class might enjoy making something with a Valentine theme.  I found these yummy pink skeins of "Cotton Supreme" by Universal Yarn at GYC this week.  It's 100% Turkish cotton, very soft.

Washcloths are very fun to either knit or crochet for those little last minute gifts when you only have a few hours.

Here are the basic instructions for the crocheted version:

Supplies: Worsted weight cotton and size G crochet hook

Chain 32 (for the 8" square) or 38 (for 9 1/2"  square).
Skip first ch from hook and sc to end.  Chain 1 and turn.
Sc to end of row. Ch1 and turn.
Continue until you have 8" square.  Fasten off.

Using contrasting cotton and tapestry needle, embroider free-hand hearts in chain stitch.

I'll post finished pictures tomorrow.  I'm thinking there will be plenty of yarn left over for a little Valentine Baby Hat.  I may be up late tonight.

Happy Knitting, Josey
